Please contact Ann Marie Burns (AnnMarieB@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.I will always woof you VOLVO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Volvo and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (1/12/25) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville, MD (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!     Name: Volvo           Best Guess for Breed:  Retriever/Shepherd mix   Best Guess for Age: 5 months as of Jan 2025  SEX:  male   Estimated Weight (puppies’ weights change quickly!):  14 pounds as of 12/29/2024   Gets Along With:        Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at: D.C. area foster home!   Special Adoption Considerations:  Puppies from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Volvo would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.    Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Volvo is Looking For:  Hiya! I’m Volvo! Me and my littermates, Volcom, Valentino, Volky, Victory and Vera, have loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! I’m looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. And to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I’d really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me? What My Foster Says About Me: Volvo is a sweet, playful pup who recently made the journey from Puerto Rico to the mainland. He’s still adjusting to the colder weather, which takes a little time—both figuratively and literally—but once he warms up to you, he’s a total sweetheart! This boy absolutely loves attention and is happiest when he’s close to his people. Volvo is making wonderful progress with leash training and loves exploring new places—there’s so much to see and sniff! While he’s still gaining confidence on walks, he’s definitely enjoying the adventure and is excited to discover more of the world around him. His curiosity and bravery are growing every day! One of Volvo’s favorite things to do is puzzle games and using a slow feeder. He’s a smart boy who loves a good challenge, and keeping his brain engaged is one of his favorite pastimes. And squeaky toys? Oh yes, he’s totally hooked! Volvo will happily spend time playing with squeaky balls and toys—he loves how much fun they are. Being super food motivated, he’s also a great student when it comes to training. He’s already learned to “sit” and is eager to learn more with your help! Volvo is excited to become the best pup he can be, and he can’t wait to show off his new skills! Volvo has also become quite popular with the neighborhood kids. He enjoys their company, and they love giving him pets and playing with him. With his  affectionate nature, Volvo would be a wonderful addition to a family looking for a loving and playful companion. Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
