Some words to describe her are energetic, outgoing, spunky, loving, and very adaptable. She has big brown eyes which give her that adorable, dreamy look. She was found as a stray. We do not know Shasta Lili’s backstory but can tell she has lived in a house before because of her familiarity with dog beds, toys, and leash walking. We can also tell she is appreciative of being in a home again after being in the shelter for a few days. HAPPY DOG – YES Shasta Lili is an “everyone” type of dog equally loving all members of her foster family (mom, dad, child, etc.). This dog is friendly to each person wagging her tail as someone walks by her or giving a greeting by getting up on her hind legs. Even people she just met get a huge greeting from her. And Shasta Lili enjoys being told that she is a “good girl” wagging her tail even more. ENERGY – YES Running or exploring in the backyard is her favorite thing to do. Shasta Lili’s goal is to be where the action is whether it is in a specific room in the foster home or the kitchen where food is prepared. An active family would be ideal for Shasta Lili since she has a lot of energy. LEASH WALKING – YES Shasta Lili gets excited when her leash is picked up and runs to the door. She is so excited that she tends to pull when walking on the sidewalk, but the foster family found out she is trainable listening to commands like “stop”. And if the person wants to walk faster or run a little Shasta Lili is willing to pick up the pace too. PLAYING WITH TOYS – YES Toys are definitely a must for Shasta Lili. She likes playing with stuffed animals or putting them beside her in a dog bed. When a ball is thrown, she will eagerly run to get it and bring it back sometimes trying to catch it in mid-air. DOG BEDS – YES She loves dog beds! The foster family has numerous beds and Shasta Lili has claimed all of them as hers. She will go from one dog bed to another dog bed to be close to a foster family member or simply because she thinks “this is comfortable”. And sometimes she will take a short nap thinking I need energy to play again later! HUMAN COMPANION – YES Shasta Lili will be at your feet so watch out! You turn around and there she is ready to see what you are doing. While the foster mother is working on the computer, she will lay quietly on the dog bed but when she sees her get up she gets up too ready to do whatever is next. Shasta Lili also likes her foster dad and visits him frequently in his “man-cave” wanting to be pet or to see what he is eating or simply to lay on the dog bed next to him. DOG COMPATIBLE – YES She loves playing with other dogs. Shasta Lili is still puppy-like so she considers every dog or person she meets as her friend. She would be fine living in a permanent home as an only dog keeping herself entertained with toys, or living as a companion for another dog playing with him/her. TRAINABLE – YES She does listen to the correction of “no” and likes to be praised when she does things right. She may try doing something wrong a few times like putting her front paws on the kitchen counter, but the second time she is told “no” she looks guilty and will stop. The fosters are guessing she is thinking “darn I got caught again but it was fun trying”. POTTY TRAINED – YES The foster family has concluded that she is potty trained since she has not had any accidents in the house. There may be some issues as she adjusts to a new permanent environment but she appears to know to go potties outside. NOTES The average lifespan for this breed is 14 years; therefore, Shasta Lili’s adopter will need to be prepared to keep her for around 13 more years so she will not have to move to a different home again. FYI – Shasta Lili does shed since her breed is a Jack Russel Terrier. Shasta Lili’s adoption fee is $620. This dog comes microchipped, spayed, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, and heartworm tested being negative. She is currently being fostered in the Plant City/Valrico Florida area. ***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out a foster or adopt application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.***
