Critter Details
Rats are social, intelligent, and emotional rodents who make wonderful little compaions. They enjoy having a relationship with their owner, and love to snuggle and play with their human friends! Though they love their people interaction, rats do best having the company of another rat of the same sex. They are clean animals that groom themselves like cats and can even be trained to use a litter box. Rats need a big wire or glass cage with a water bottle and food bowl, bedding, places to hide and sleep, and chew toys and treats. Their bedding should not be cedar or pine, and their cage needs to be kept away from direct sunlight and heavy drafts. Rats need a good diet of rat food pellets that is supplemented with fresh fruits and veggies. Packaged mixed grain diets usually contain corn or seed content that is too high. Rats should never be picked up by the tail, and should be gently cupped and cradled close to your body. Adoption Fee: $30.00
