Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs – but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 09/04/2024 Reason for being in rescue: Kenny arrived in rescue via a shelter. He was originally found as a stray. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Kenny is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Our best guess is that Kenny is a labradoodle. Only a DNA test will tell. We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he does not shed. If you have allergy concerns Kenny is not your dog. Weight: 50 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Kenny requires the safety of a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Kenny is the opposite of your average doodle, preferring to not take life head on, and instead take it WAY too seriously. Kenny chooses his human friends carefully. He has a strong preference for women preferably blondes. Now do not take it to heart. Kenny will let men, and brunettes pet him too, he just prefers blonde ladies. Kenny is a nervous nelly, he needs reassurance that the floor isn't going to fall out from under him, and that life isn't all about slow and steady wins the race. Kenny is looking for someone with a lot of patience and a lot of love to give him. Though we do not think Kenny would dislike children in the home we do know Kenny would much prefer a quieter environment to learn and gain confidence in. Loud noises, fast movements, and yelling make Kenny very nervous. For this reason Kenny is looking for a home where if children are present they are 12 years or older. Even if all of these noises are playful, Kenny is not sure of the difference and it puts a hinderance on his improvement. He will shut down and shake in fear. We are unsure of Kenny's past, but we do understand that these traits could come from loud scary environments. Kenny is also a follower and will not be placed in a home without another large breed dog for him to follow and play with. Kenny will also require a four-foot fence or higher in his new home. He was a stray once and we are certain with a big change he would try to again.  Kenny is a sweet and gentle soul and his is looking for a home with a fenced in yard, another large breed dog to follow and play with, older or no children, and a lot of patience and love. What is my personality like? Kenny arrived in rescue in September 2024 after landing at a shelter, being adopted, and then being returned. We don't know what Kenny's past may have been, but it's left him pretty weary of people. Our experience is that Kenny simply needs time. Time to warm up, time to learn you are okay, time to build trust. We can relate! Once Kenny has settled, chosen his friends and checked the floor three times, he is the epitome of a doodle. Bouncy, happy, smiling, snatching treats from your hand. He has it all, including some manners to learn. Kenny does walk well on a leash, but we do think once he gains more confidence a refresher in leash training and basic queues would be instore. How do I act when I first meet new people? Kenny is very tentative around new people. If you've seen the movie 50 First Dates, you've seen Kenny in action! Other tips and tidbits: Kenny is estimated at under 2 years old. We celebrate his birthday 06/11/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.   Please note – we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you – poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
