Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs – but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 3/26/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Kemi is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Kemi is reaching the age where she will begin to need dental cleanings. Our vet has not recommended a dental at this time, but Jasmine will likely need one in the next year. Weight: 14 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, though she would love one! What kind of home would be best for me? Kemi would thrive in a home with a single person, a couple, or a family with older children (12+ years). She’ll need an adopter who is home most of the day, as she’s used to plenty of love, cuddles, and snuggles—and she misses that dearly. Once she settles in, she will become a sweet, loving companion. Kemi is still adjusting to her new environment, so she might be a little unsure at first. She can be cautious around new people at first, but with a little patience and some quiet time to settle, she’ll warm up and enjoy pets and affection—and will even ask for more! Kemi is accustomed to apartment living, and she would do well in a similar setup, though she’d also be comfortable in a house. She was obviously pee pad trained in her former home and arrived in rescue knowing nothing about pottying outdoors. We're working REALLY hard to teach her that grass is good, but her family needs to be prepared with pee pads for the transition and continued training and reinforcement in her new home. Kemi does well with other dogs, although she can be a bit selective about which dogs she bonds with. While we haven’t observed her behavior with cats, we believe she would do fine with them, as long as they are friendly and respectful. Kemi has a voice and is not afraid to use it, particularly if other dogs are around. If you live in an apartment or townhome, please be aware of this. What is my personality like? Meet Kemi, a sweet little girl who arrived with her best friend Jasmine after their owner sadly passed away. Kemi is a beautiful and gentle soul, trying to understand why she’s here and where her mommy went.  Kemi enjoys car rides and would love to accompany you on outings, whether it’s a quick trip to the grocery store, a visit to a sidewalk café, or dining at an outdoor restaurant. Of course, she’ll expect a pup cup to top off the trip before heading home! Though Kemi hasn’t yet learned basic commands, she’s a quick learner and would benefit from a little training. Her adopter should be patient and willing to teach her simple commands like “come,” “down,” “stay,” and “sit.” Kemi walks well on a leash, though a refresher on leash training would be helpful. The time spent working with her will be a wonderful bonding experience! Kemi is used to being treated like royalty—lots of love, cuddles in your lap, comfy sofas, and soft beds. She longs to experience this kind of life again. If you can provide her with the care and comfort she craves, there’s no doubt she will shower you with more love than you could ever imagine. How do I act when I first meet new people? Kemi can be a bit reserved when meeting new people. However, when she was with her owner, she interacted with a wide range of people and got along with men, women, and children. Other tips and tidbits: Kemi was born on 2/8/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note – we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you – poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
