Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs – but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 1/6/2024 first in, adopted but returned 2/25 due to health of new owner Reason for being in rescue: owner release/moving and now health of owner Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Jude is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.  Weight: 8 lbs Height: 9 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $99 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Jude is looking for a home that will allow him unlimited lap time and a ton of human interaction.  He's been much loved, and it shows.  He wants that again. Jude would prefer to be an only dog, not because he does not get along with dogs but because he does not need them.  He needs you.   Jude will not be placed in a home with children under 15 and we will give first preference to adult homes.  He was fostered for about a week with a very dog savvy under 5-year-old young lady and he barked and in general was not a happy camper.  No attack ever – your grandkids are not in danger – but he was unhappy at a tiny human in such close proximity for days on end even though her behavior was entirely appropriate.  Some dogs just don't like tiny humans.  It's okay. Let's keep him with adults please.   What is my personality like? Jude is a very active for a reportedly 10- to 12-year-old guy. If there were a doggy gym, he’d be the older fellow that all the young pups would marvel at for all he is able to do. He is not into toys but loves being outside, heading out for long walks with you. When he’s done playing, or after coming back from that long walk, Jude likes nothing better than cuddling up on the couch relaxing with his human. That’s when his affectionate side comes out as he showers you with kisses. Jude is a smart guy who understands commands so there’s no need for teaching moments, you can get right to the enjoyable stuff with him. Jude is crate trained and reportedly enjoys being in his crate. Jude is accustomed to being where people are. If you're on the couch, he is there with you. If it's bedtime, he's ready to snuggle. Jude likes men and women equally and adores his foster dad.   Jude will express his needs to you. When he needs to go out for a potty break he will stand by the door. He will also bark to let you know if he wants or needs something. How do I act when I first meet new people? He will most likely be anxious and restless upon meeting new people, but he will warm up quickly to you. You can also expect him to be both anxious and restless when you first get him home since it will be unfamiliar surroundings to him. Just give him time to adjust and he’ll do fine. Other tips and tidbits: Our owner said she had Jude at least 12 years old.  We have vet records going back to 2019 and are trying to get more.  If we were to be asked to estimate this dog's age, we'd set him at 8.  His teeth are wonderful for an adult small dog and his eyes are clear.  He has no trouble jumping on the couch and is much more agile and happy than a 12 year dog usually is.  We think, if you are afraid of an older dog, Jude is worth taking that risk.  House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog housetrained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on you Please note – we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you – poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
