Come meet Hugo and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (03/30) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church, VA (6100A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)! Name: Hugo Best Guess for Breed: Lab and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of March 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 43 lbs Gets Along With: Hugo does well with other dogs. We haven’t seen him with cats or kids but would be happy to discuss integration strategies with any potential adopters. Currently Living at: Lucky Dog’s South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here. Hugo is Looking For: His forever home! He’s not that long out of puppyhood, hasn’t seen nearly enough of the world and can’t wait to blow the shelter and get his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up. He’d love to make new pup pals along the way and burn some of that awesome young-dog energy with them. And go to dog school as well – learning is lifelong, after all. Most of all, though, he wants to know he’s safe and loved for all his days, to be a loyal companion. What do you say? Is Hugo the one for your home and your heart? What Shelter Staff Say About Hugo: Hugo spent some time on the Dogs Playing For Life Canine Center campus in Florida. There, he received basic training and enrichment, and socialized with other dogs. Hugo worked on the Sit and Place commands there. He also worked on loose leash walking and sitting at open doors, waiting to be released to go out. He also learned to play with enrichment toys such as food-filled Kongs and food puzzles. He was a wonderful participant in doggie playgroups – he’s very dog social and was really good with dogs who needed a little help socializing with others. He can play gently, or he can go all in with the rough wrestling. What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster.
