Critter Details

Eddie (named after Eddie Munster because he has the distinctive v-shaped facial marking of a  "widow's peak") is a husky/shepherd mix.  His mom was a pure white husky and three of his siblings were blonde.  He is part of a family of 9 babies found by someone that already had 9 personal dogs.  That's a lot to take care of so Operation Pets Alive stepped up to help. As a pup, Eddie survived parvo and was raised with the foster family's large pack in a rural area. He is now 1 year and 6 months old and is considered a "long term" dog because he is shy and has not been able to attend adoption events to find his permanent family. OPA just recently moved him to a boarding situation where he, along with his sister and friend Aja, is receiving additional human socialization, more individual attention and can finally attend local adoption events. Eddie is crate trained and potty trained if given the chance to go outside. He is starting to learn basic obedience.  Eddie is cautious when meeting new people but is very tolerant (never threatening); a loving pup at heart. He is fine on a leash and enjoys walks.  He sometimes has some car sickness. For treats his foster family might give him a hard boiled egg (with shell and all – good for digestion and vitamins), chicken hearts or livers, but he is not particularly food motivated.  He gets exercise several times during the day but at night he is used to sleeping in a large kennel.  Eddie would love to meet you and find a trusted partner with which to navigate this crazy and exciting world.   UPDATE FROM HIS CURRENT FOSTER FAMILY: Eddie was extremely shy when we first took him in, but day by day, he has opened up more and more. Eddie is a super calm dog who will cuddle up to you if given the chance or just simply lay down by you. We have yet to hear Eddie bark and he doesn’t seem interested when other dogs bark at him. We take him on several walks a day and he is amazing on a leash. He doesn’t pull and won’t run off at squirrels or anything alike. Once he feels comfortable, he will play with other dogs and give you a lot of attention if you want it.He enjoys the dog park when there aren’t many dogs there and likes to run the perimeter of the fence. He is great with other dogs and people. Eddie will listen to you, but he is still learning some basic commands. We are trying to train Eddie, so that when he is adopted, he knows all commands. He is fully potty trained and crate trained.  Eddie loves head scratches (especially behind his ears). Eddie needs a home that will give him attention and love. He is one of the sweetest dogs that we have ever met and he needs a forever home. If you are interested, please reach out to Operation Pets Alive!
