Critter Details

When Chapman woke up on the morning of September 10, 2024, he couldn't have known his life was going to change forever.  His morning started off like all others, as he sat cautiously at the edge of the woods where he was living, staring at the adjacent parking lot of the hotel where he relied on the kindness of strangers to give him leftover breakfast bits.   Soon, a lady pulled into the parking lot right in front of him to meet some coworkers.  But since that lady also volunteered for a cat rescue, her eyes reflexively darted through the wood edge looking for any creatures in need of help.  And that's when she saw Chapman.  She spent the rest of the day working the phones with fellow cat rescuers to set traps.  And by the end of the day, he was trapped and loaded into the back of the lady's car, and she drove him from those woods to her house.  The lady could tell that Chapman was scared, but she was heartened that he didn't hiss or growl at her when she went to pet him.  After a week of experiencing reliable food and water sources, soft bedding, and kind words from the lady, Chapman started to trust the lady enough to give some headbutts.  After another week, he would run to the door of his crate when the lady would come into his room, meowing happily that she was going to feed him and give him love.  Chapman just got a "promotion" and has moved from his crate into a regular room.  Always a little cautious at first in new situations, Chapman found a vertical scratching board to position himself behind, while getting a nice view of the goings-on.  Fellow foster kitties of different ages came over to greet him, and he kindly exchanged nose sniffs and an occasional lick.  Nobody growled or hissed, and the lady was happy.  Chapman will undoubtedly realize that this room is yet another haven, and he will be lounging on the sofa and playing with his human and kitty friends in no time.  His foster home in New Cumberland does not have any dogs or kids, but his foster family feels he would do fine with a kind dog and nice older children who can appreciate his gentle manner.   He would also be a wonderful pet for an older person. All Chapman has to do is bat his beautiful big eyes at you, and you will fall in love.  He has a very friendly face and is a tall fella.  Chapman is estimated to have born in March 2023.  Chapman's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing (negative for both), microchip, and neuter.  Come and meet him in New Cumberland or at an adoption event!
