Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs – but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team not in vetportDate into Rescue: 07/11/24 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/retiring Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Casper is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 10/16/24 Casper had a dental with 6 extractions. Weight: 8.6 lbs Height: 9 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes – without exception, Casper needs the security and safety of a fenced in yard. He has never been without a fence and, until he learns to trust you (and this will take a bit) he will run. What kind of home would be best for me? Casper's home is going to be with an experienced dog owner who has taken a breeder dog and turned them into a pet before. He is a lover of other dogs, and he must have at least 2 canine companions his size and energy level. Casper absolutely must have a fenced in yard. He has never been on a leash, and we still have not gotten him on a leash although we are trying. It's a new skill for him and not one he's eager to learn. Casper would love to sleep with his people. Right now, he sleeps in a crate and sometimes soils it. He may be ok as long as the crate is in your room but for now, when we leave his kennel area at night, he does soil. It is a large for him crate and we are looking at switching him to a smaller crate to see if this will help him. Casper has never met a cat. What is my personality like? Quirky, opinionated, and awesome with other dogs. Casper at first could not be touched but after his neuter, he realized humans are in his life to stay and maybe we are not so bad. Now he does happy feet when he is ready to be picked up. He is not always in the mood to be picked up but considering he has only been here 3 months, that he wants us near him at all is something we celebrate. Casper is a canine player. He has a positive effect on other dogs and often brings them out of their shell and teaches them to play games and come to humans for affection. His current BFF is Alaina who is also up for adoption. He knows how to tell the girls "it's all good, we got this" and they believe him. Casper is a retired stud dog, and his leadership qualities show through. He's a lot of fun to watch with the shyer dogs. He makes them feel good about themselves. Casper lived a very quiet life with just one caregiver until he was retired from breeding and sent to CPR. Once he learns to trust, he can be a love, and he is improving every day. We're loving watching him grow and learn about pet life and he feel he's now ready for the next step – your home. Casper has his moods he will run from you one moment and then decide you are ok. If you sit on the ground he'll come up for pets. You have to adjust to Caspers moods/needs. How do I act when I first meet new people? Shy, nervous, uncertain. Casper does not have a lot of experience with people. Other tips and tidbits: Actual birthdate 11/13/19 per CKC papers. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note – we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you – poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
