Browie is a distinguished and very sweet gentleman, wearing a beautiful mane of light fur that resembles a furry parka. He starts off a little shy but warms up quickly. Potty trained and walks very well on a leash. Browie is doing well with his crate-training and sleeps quietly in his crate next to the bed through the night (though he seems like he would appreciate sharing the bed). He whines a little at the start when left alone during the day but quiets down after 10-15 mins; he does better when left with a treat kong or lick mat. Browie does well with his cat and dog foster siblings but doesn't seem too interested in playing with them and would prefer that any other pet siblings are chill/respectful of space. He also likely would not do well with young children as he is sensitive to touch right now. He does bark when he hears noises, so might not be right for an apartment.Browie is a medium energy dog and would benefit from daily walks. He seems like he's got endurance and could become a good hiking/running buddy. LOVES to play fetch with a small ball! Browie was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs.
