I have had over one hundred Field Trips with dozens of dogs (not bragging, but I have a lot to compare to) and Psy was one of the easiest dogs I have ever taken out. He jumped in the car and sat patiently for the entire ride. When we parked next to the boardwalk, he got out calmly and without getting overly excited. He was very attentive and walked right beside me with zero pulling. He is listed as needing to be an only dog, which may be correct, but he is not dog reactive. We passed several dogs, including a little yappy dog that snuck up right behind us, and he did not react to any of them. We walked past people on bikes, rollerblades, wheelchairs, and skateboards and he barely noticed. The only things that got a reaction from him were a squirrel (which he treed lol) and the seagulls on the beach. When we were leaving the beach, he backed out of his collar (my fault for not checking, not his, he was just loving the sand and did not want to leave). He walked about ten feet ahead of me and past a few people before he realized he was loose. I called for him, and he just turned around and came right back. The people around were impressed with me for having such good recall, but I told them I had nothing to do with it, he is just that easy. PSY – 2 years old, house trained, no other pets. Psy is another who has seen the inside of a shelter more than he should have at his young age. Originally surrendered bc of a landlord who would not allow pitbulls and now surrendered bc the new family, after 5 months of having Psy, is expecting and they don't feel he would fit in well with a baby. Psy has to get to know you before he will trust you. He is great on a leash and loves to go for walks. He is not a fan of other dogs or cats so he should be an only pet. We are also trying our hardest to get good photos of him. Lol Volunteers have found he is one of the best on a leash when walking making it relaxing and enjoyable. Here's a little from a volunteer who recently took him for a field trip. "I spent the afternoon with this handsome pup…Psy was perfect on the leash, did not pull once, and if you are looking for a good dog to walk alone with or go outside at night, he is very alert to his surroundings and makes you feel safe if you’re alone. Psy LOVES chicken nuggets & french fries and was very slobbery while he waited for his treats! He was AWESOME in the car and either had his head out the window or was playing with his toy on our drives. Our last stop was tractor supply where he got to pick out his own special treat & toy to take back to the shelter to enjoy. " Come on out to meet him! He is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask. VBACAC 341 S Birdneck Road, VB Open daily 12-5 pm.
